Imbolc

Imbolc is fast approaching. The days are getting longer, and it gives us hope that Spring isn't far off. This time of year makes me want to dust off my seed catalogs and start planning this year's garden. It's also a time for me to buy my candle making supplies. Each year at Imbolc, the family and I make candles for upcoming rituals. We try to make enough for the whole year, but more often than not, we run out and have to buy some. Maybe this year, we'll double the candles we make.

Another thing we like to do at Imbolc is take a nature hike. We all get bundled up, go to Glen Helen Nature Preserve in Yellow Springs, and look for signs of life in the winter woods. Even our adult children love spotting tracks in the snow, or a bird twittering in the trees. After our hike, we stop somewhere for hot chocolate, and talk about all the things we plan to do in the Spring.

How do you and your family celebrate Imbolc?
